How Long Can You Live? – An Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Project on Smoking Awareness

We are excited to share the success of our Erasmus+ project, "How Long Can You Live?", with reference number 2022-1-RO01-KA152-YOU-000053582. This impactful initiative brought together young people from six different countries to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking addiction and promote healthier lifestyles.
Project Overview
Hosted in Iași, Romania, this youth exchange took place with participants from Romania, Turkey, Poland, Portugal and Spain joined forces to address the pressing issue of smoking addiction. Through a variety of activities, the project aimed to educate and inspire young people to lead healthier lives while fostering international collaboration and cultural exchange.
Project Goals and Impact
The main objectives of "How Long Can You Live?" were:
Raising Awareness – Educating participants on the physical, psychological, and societal harms of smoking addiction.
Promoting Healthier Lifestyles – Encouraging young people to adopt sports and hobbies as alternatives to smoking.
Cultural Exchange – Strengthening intercultural communication and tolerance among participants.
Erasmus+ Engagement – Introducing young people to Erasmus+ opportunities and empowering them to participate in future projects.
Encouraging Digital and Environmental Responsibility – Using digital tools to spread awareness and discussing the environmental impact of smoking.
Project Activities
The program was filled with engaging and interactive activities that allowed participants to learn, collaborate, and take action. Some of the highlights included:
Sports Activities & Workouts – Promoting physical fitness as a way to prevent addiction.
Digital Photography Workshop – Teaching participants how to use photography to tell stories and spread awareness.
“Quit Now!” Challenge – Encouraging smokers to track their cigarette consumption and reduce their smoking habits over the course of the project.
Cultural Nights – A fun and educational experience where each country presented their traditions, food, music, and lifestyle.
Erasmus+ and Youth Exchange Information Sessions – Providing insights into the opportunities Erasmus+ offers for young people.
Final Thoughts
The "How Long Can You Live?" Erasmus+ project was a life-changing experience for all involved. It successfully combined education, action, and cultural exchange to create a powerful movement against smoking addiction. By working together across borders, we have not only raised awareness but also empowered young people to take charge of their health and their futures.
