The Journey to a Smoke-Free Life: 'How long can you live?'

Our recent youth exchange project, 2022-1-RO01-KA152-YOU-000053582 "How Long Can You Live?" held in Iasi, Romania from January 22 to January 30, 2023, aimed to shed light on the harmful effects of smoking while promoting a healthier lifestyle among young individuals.

Throughout the project, we engaged participants in discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions focused on raising awareness about the dangers of smoking. Emphasizing the various health risks associated with tobacco use, we explored the detrimental effects on respiratory health, cardiovascular function, and overall well-being.

One of the key aspects of our project was to provide participants with insights into the long-term consequences of tobacco consumption, including the heightened risks of lung cancer, heart disease, and stroke. We facilitated discussions on strategies for smoking cessation, highlighting the importance of seeking support and utilizing available resources when attempting to quit smoking.

Moreover, our project fostered a supportive environment for participants to share personal experiences and challenges related to smoking. Through open dialogues, individuals were encouraged to reflect on the addictive nature of nicotine and the steps they could take towards a smoke-free lifestyle.

In addition to addressing individual health concerns, we also examined the broader societal implications of tobacco use. Participants gained an understanding of the economic burden on healthcare systems and the environmental impact of tobacco production and waste.

As the project concluded, participants left equipped with the knowledge and resources necessary to make informed decisions and advocate for smoke-free environments in their communities. By promoting awareness, providing education, and fostering support networks, "How Long Can You Live?" contributed to the promotion of health and well-being among youth, paving the way for a tobacco-free future.
