As The Centrul Pentru Tineret Mileniu we are delighted to share our partner project "Universal Design," held in the city of Kastamonu, Turkey, from June 10th to June 15th, 2023. Under the reference number 2022-2-TR01-KA153-YOU-000090701, this project brought together youth workers from Romania, Bulgaria, Türkiye, Portugal, Italy, Czech Republic, and Greece. As the Romanian partner, Centrul Pentru Tineret Mileniu played a key role in fostering inclusivity and driving meaningful discussions on universal design. Four Romanian participants were selected and sent to this project which provided them various benefits. Kastamonu provided an ideal backdrop for our collaborative efforts, surrounded by the warm hospitality of Türkiye.
The project aimed to raise awareness about people with disabilities and the difficulties a disabled person can come across in his/her lifetime. Our Romanian participants, representing Centrul Pentru Tineret Mileniu, benefitted immensely from the well-structured activities and workshops during the mobility project.
The project focused on the types of disabilities, misconceptions about disabled people, imposing the right sense of empathy, and understanding what people with disabilities experience in society. During teh project, our participants also had the opportunity to actively engage with local communities in Kastamonu, applying the principles of universal design through practical initiatives.
Centrul Pentru Tineret Mileniu extends heartfelt gratitude to the host country Türkiye, project partners, and the European Commission for making this transformative project possible.
